A number of visitors to this site have inquired about various classic (well, sometimes just fondly remembered) western movies that they would like to see again. I've done some checking on the web to find the company that offers the greatest number of both books and videos and have decided to go with Amazon.com.

As for recent westerns, here are a few links. Although these movies--except "Ride" perhaps, which I definitely do recommend--probably won't qualify as classics, a true western aficionado will want to view them nonetheless.

Mulford ( Hopalong Cassidy), Larry McMurtry (Lonesome Dove), or just type western novels or westerns in the search box below. Typing in western movies will bring up books about the genre.

Red River (1948) Starring John Wayne, Montgomery Clift. Directed by Howard Hawks. A classic trail drive movie that belongs in every western fan's video collection. Jesse James (1939) Tyrone Power Henry Fonda Randolph Scott Another 1939 classic, beautifully shot in color on Missouri locations.	Son of Paleface (1952) Bob Hope, Jane Russell, Roy Rogers & Trigger! If you have only one comedy western, this should be it! Fun for the whole family. Color. Cowboy (1958) Glenn Ford Jack Lemmon Dude Lemmon joins trail drive and becomes a changed man. Ford plays the trail boss. Humor and action. Color. DVD Link	The Unforgiven (1960) Burt Lancaster Audrey Hepburn Audie Murphy Directed by John Huston. A frontier family copes with racism and an unyielding Indian attack. Color.
