Memorial Day 2000
Reenactment

Union Artillery

For the second year in a row, the California-based National Civil War Association held its Memorial Day weekend event at Ardenwood Farm in Fremont, CA. I took these reenactor pictures of camp and battle scenes on Saturday. I especially enjoyed visiting with Mr. Dunniway, Ferrotypist, and his assistant, Mr. Staley, who would answer questions about the period processes being used.

The announcer reminded us that usually battles or skirmishes were fought on private land--and the landowners often were left to deal with the carnage after the armies had left.
